With Sicilian Ancestry, you can commission a genealogist in Sicily to locate and obtain the records you need, even when you do not know the exact date of the event. The service includes identifying the record and, when an official document is required, requesting it from the appropriate office.
An assignment focused on the documents you need
Your request may concern a single record or several documents relating to the same family. The assignment is defined according to your objective: learning more about an ancestor, completing research already underway or collecting records required for an application. Sicilian Ancestry provides both tailored genealogical research and civil record retrieval.
Before starting, I review the information you have: the person’s name, the place associated with them, known dates and any records already located. An approximate date may be enough to assess the search, particularly when the parents’ names are also known.
From locating the record to contacting the municipality
When the record has not yet been identified, I search the registers of the relevant locality and, where the evidence supports it, neighboring municipalities. To obtain the official document, I prepare the request and remain in contact with the office while it is being processed.
I check the documents received, including names, dates, annotations, signatures and stamps. If a document has been issued incorrectly, I request a correction. Original documents intended for the client are then prepared for shipping.

The timeframe also depends on processing by the relevant offices. Obtaining an already identified record and searching for an event with an unknown date involve different work, which is assessed before the assignment begins.
Send me the details of the record you need
Provide the person’s first and last name, the type of record required, the municipality and a date, even if approximate. Where available, include the parents’ names and copies of the documents you already have.
If you do not know the municipality, include any information about the place of origin. I will assess whether the available details allow a focused search or whether a preliminary investigation is needed.
